Growing up in Belfast as a kid thats what we heard Paras call them when we asked them about their uniforms.
I had a WW2 Denison given to be by a Para who lived on my street....and was into asking squaddies for kit......and always wanted one of the later jackets ..
Paras dark humor when spoken to a child can be just that ...dark and when I asked about the jacket used on the day they would laugh and call it "the bloody sunday special" ......
Many a time when hanging out near a VCP near woodburn I heard that .......and that name stuck with us even to the extent to trying to buy them over the phone in exchange and mart small adds ......remember them.
Well when I got one and wore it around Belfast when stopped and asked why I was wearing it ????
It made for a great "give us a cap badge mate " opening line ..and I got quite a few .
Little did they know I had a house full of KZ produced SS camouflage that was WAY more un-pc as that .
so its just a name for fun .......for a fun day .
