Re: Italian camo in my collection
Nice bunch of variants!
I don't think I've seen coveralls quite like that before. Typical army colors with army collar badging and fabric loops on the epaulettes. Interesting. Any chance of tag or ink stamp info being of use?
Steve

Ripcord: this uniform is not a normal M29, but a variant model used by CARABINIERI CORPS. You can see from the blue stars. I check in my database and ask my friends. If so, you are very lucky!!!

Sounds good...Will have a look at the set when I remember where it is...
Definitely buried pretty deep. Don't remember the Savoy stars being blue, but will certainly check ASAP...
Thanks

A very clean set...
Hmmm..
Maybe we do have a less commonly starred version of this long serving pattern....('29-'92 )...
Really do have to remember where mine is ...

Here a few pictures from the mid-60s where we can see m29 coverall in use (in the last picture there's the italian singer Adriano Celentano) :

Re: Italian camo in my collection
What was the purpose of the coveralls compared to the 2 piece uniform?

Re: Italian camo in my collection
I suppose it was used as working uniform while the 2 piece was a combat uniform...
Both were worn over the regular uniform of the day..
This one is an SM variant made by Consorzio Liguria who have a long history of providing uniforms to the Italian navy.

Re: Italian camo in my collection
Work coveralls been my assumption up until now, but the picture of guys apparently marching in parade with the coveralls made me wonder if there is a different explanation.
I've had probably a dozen of these and until this thread never seen one with the bevo stars on the collar, but I do have a BSM with rubber/felt stars sewn on. The pics of the coveralls with bevo stars means I need to warm up my sewing machine

Re: Italian camo in my collection
The coveralls were used in many different ways. I'm not expert on italian stuff but I think that in the Army they were more common in the 50s and 60s, while Navy kept using it till the early '90s (and they used it normally as with the other combat garments).
The M29 Navy two-piece uniform was used as complete suit or jacket only, often only trousers (they mixed the camo suit with other regular clothing as sweather, shirt etc..).
Here a mix of old-school pictures of BSM, also from Lebanon '82.
