MTP PCS MK3 Empty MTP PCS MK3

    Post by LeeKitchen1975 Mon Aug 26, 2013 4:35 pm

    Hi all,

Have been following this thread on ARRSE and thought it would be worth posting...

I won't believe it until I see it, but I said that about brown boots - and now you're more likely to see a para doing a crossword than black boots in Pirbright.

Just leave PCS as it is and untucked, why should we waste money entertaining the Bullshit Brigade?

I hope Gearspotter and his team manage to deter any intention to introduce such a uniform, and perhaps can shed some light here?

As always - the rumours are almost correct! There is a modified design which is now being issued to all recruits and on replacement of unserviceable items. The only significant differences (and I am sure I've mentioned this before) are:

    1. No forearm pockets (allow sleeves to be rolled up more easily).
    2. Reduced velcro on the bicep pockets (reduces the "bat-wing" effect caused by the large velcro patch on the pockets and the blanking plate).
    3. Reduced width of breast pockets (reduces the overall thermal burden).

In due course, there is an aspiration to also do away with the temperate version and just issue everyone the lightweight warm weather version. Given the quality of the thermal gear now issued, the need for 2 weights of cloth has been reduced.

There are no other significant design changes and it should still be worn untucked, although with a change in command at the top level, who knows if that will continue!

    Enjoy

One more variant to hunt down. Laughing

Have any further intel on the new brown boots? Heard about them but don't know too much.

Crap, that's the same thing I was thinking. I haven't even bothered to get a Mk1 (I have under armor shirt and trousers so far).

MTP PCS MK3 Empty Brown(and other) boots

Post by fourtycoats Wed Aug 28, 2013 11:25 am

A stall at the war and Peace show last month had a selection of slightly used trial boots which seemed to include all of the brands being trialled. Needless to say, I availed of the opportunity getting two types of Desert boots(BCHL) and two types of wet weather boots(BCWW)
Brands available included HAIX, YDS,KARRIMOR, MAGNUM.

Yeah lots of brown boots about now! I was at ADSC Pirbright last week and all the new recruits are issued them now, and i'm due to have them in a couple weeks when my Sqn gets a delivery, theyre very much widespread now.

Also to add, we're ALL getting Hiax, and if i know my boots correctly thats what the recruits at Pirbright all had, i was having a good gander in the cookhouse and they were all identical.
