Re: Polish Beret
Hmm... at first glance it appears to be 1988, but I'm not sure how that jibes with this information:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_beret#Poland
In this article it says this is a Police beret, which is consistent with Africa. But I think it would be post 1990.
So now I'm curious

Re: Polish Beret
I checked several Polish references and all say the dark blue beret was used with a work uniform only for work duties. One reference said it was also used by Civil Defence, but that was just someone posting on a forum so do not know how true that statement is.
Steve, you're right - the wiki page refers to post 1989 berets only.
The other colours during 1980s were:
Maroon - Airborne and SF
Light Blue - 7LDD - Marine Assault Division
Black - Armored
Black with Navy Eagle - Naval units including FORMOZA

Re: Polish Beret
Just checked and the Civil Defence berets have a diferent Eagle patch with "OC" so this one is a Work Uniform beret.

Re: Polish Beret
In addition this is what the former South African Soldier whom I got the beret from told me.
I got the beret off a Polish soldier who was part of the UN MONITORING FORCE in SWA (Namibia) after the Nkomati Accord had ended the Border War. '89-90.
I dont know if that clears things up any.
