Unusual Body Armour-US Variable Type With Ceramic Plates. Empty Unusual Body Armour-US Variable Type With Ceramic Plates.

    Post by Gulf91 Fri Dec 20, 2013 4:53 pm

Any ideas who, where and what period one of these would have been worn please?

The plates are US made and dated 1970 but cannot find any date on the vest itself.

    Thanks

The vest outer has a UK NSN (the 99 in 99-130-3007) and I reckon the 78 in the lower LH corner of the tag is the YOM.

    Heres a few links, http://8470.iso-group.com/NSN/8470-99-130-3007

Thanks Bolty. Unfortunately the 78 isnt the date just part of some form of code.

Was given a link with some pics, see if I can find them. Was issued in very limited quantities to troops in NI manning static locations like checkpoints as way too heavy and bulky to wear on patrols etc.

The A/78 code is a contract number..unfortunately these don't really narrow down the date much!!

    A/78 - early-mid 1960s to 1979....

    Nice vest tho!!!!! Cool

Any ideas on the inscription to the front cover M.T. Name???..... CLF????

Ah too bad, really hoped to see it in use finally.

Oh and most likely made in 1975, as this guide suggests.
