I agree that are definitely (at least) two different models of ammunition pouch.

Here is a short example that I have, with light/pea green blanco.

The height is 20 cm, and the width is 11 cm. The depth from front to back is nearly 7 cm.

you mean in a bandolier and then in the bag? when separate they would be in cardrige pouches

And pouch modified from British Pouch, utility, front, with waist strap.

The modificastion has involved removing stitching from backm of pouch, removing waist strap, and sewing on (with different thread, new components tro convet to a form of basic pouch.

I doubt it, the 30-06 cartridges fall out the ends of the chargers easily enough as it is. cartridge pouches offer a snug fit and (to some extent) hold the cartridges in the chargers.

Chargers loose in a larger pouch would tend to fall / get knocked out of the Chargers as they rattle around inside a pouch.

Not really Belgium related but mention of Sten gunners and suitable / unsuitable pouches brought this image to mind.

British Sten gunners, in Normandy shortly after D day, carrying MkII Stens but with short pouches that cannot close over the magazines....

Were British troops so badly equipped that they could not find pouches to suit the magazines their weapons used?
