Who hear knows the differences between the three Vopo helmets of the DDR.
    I know there are three:
    the I/56
    the I/57
    and the I/71

I am aware that there are some differences between the rivets but not much else.

Heres the one I own, I believe it is an earlier version because of the rivets.

Hello, your helmet is an M-56 of the first model, the absence of foam blocks and the presence of three rivets and seem to indicate. Could you take some pictures with the inside up?

thanks, do you happen to know where there are any pictures of the different variations? I want to grab up every version but have a difficult time telling the differences.

Here are the two variations that I own. Both have three rivets. The one on the left has the later-pattern plastic suspension and foam.

I have seen two types of foam used on these later helmet liners: one is harder, the other more soft, like a sponge. The harder foam seems to dry up and deteriorate a lot faster.

There are also 3-4 different types of plastic parade versions , keep an eye out for them .

your steel shell is the 3 rivet early type but it has the later adjustable liner, looks like somebody removed the foam pads, cut the center piece of plastic out to try and make it look like the early first pattern M56

it's a transition model [the adjustable liner was added 1966 or later]
