I have two set in this pattern.
One is a commercial copy, quite easy to find and the other seems to be an issued set :
Issue below and copy on top. The issue is quite darker than the commercial reproduction.
There are some little difference too
Copy left, issued right.
Spots are bigger on the original uniform with different button too.
issued left, copy right
Stronger zip on the issued vest. There are also renforcement on knee and seat that I couldn't find on the copy.
A last one with the vest in its environnement :

They are easy to get. Several ebay sellers are selling sets, for around $US 50.00 shipped. When you do a search hit the advanced options and select the only in... Hong Kong selection. That will show you all the Chinese sellers that sell them. I have a Desert Tigerstripe ACU set from these same places, and the quality is excellent.

I have a spare commercial version, complete with hat and winter gloves (genuine issue, I think), if you want. Cheap price too. PM me if you are interested.

I can no longer stay out of this thread
A full blown flecktarn nutter myself, I too have several sets bought from different Chinese eBay sellers. Like some have pointed out earlier, I find it quite easy to find the commercial sets there. Simply search for 'PLA camo' or 'Chinese camo'.
All commercial sets I have come across are fitted with the big, red, an not really inconspicuous Chinese flag on left shoulder and a black and yellow "PLA" scroll on the right.
Like Tophe showed, the cheaper commercial uniforms have a somewhat lighter pattern, the fabric feels more thin and polyester-esque and button configuration and zippers are different with big difference in quality.
I have never seen up close and proofed pics of the real deal and issued Type 03 uniforms, but since the 'issue' ones are a mere 75-95 USD and the definate and lower quality commercial ones are 55-60 USD, I suggest all looking for this great pattern to buy the more expensive ones.
Try eBay seller 'metalsparkle' from main land China, I have had nothing but excellent service and great communication with them!
The pattern is a great one, period! Regardless of issue or non-issue status.

I think the repro. sellers just had done the redundant work. In real life the PLA they never use that patches.

Yeah I noticed the typo. For a Chinese repro its actually very good quality. When I got it I also got the Airborne pattern and some tigerstripe (there respected threads are around here somewhere) the zipper for the airborne jacket broke off and the inside of the pockets are made of woodland pattern.
Anyway, if possible, where could you get official Chinese uniforms in Beijing, Shanghai or Hong Kong. Hopefully in the next few years I may take a trip that will land me in one or more of those cities and I want to pick up a few while I'm there.

Actually I don't like any repro. and copy armystuff. China is world camoflage uniforms export country. Yes, some repro. reach the international standard. But still have differences between repro. and geniune ones.
That sounds good. When you are ready to visit Hong kong, please drop me a line here. I wellcome you to HK. I think we have good dialogue because "Militaria stuff" is our common language.

Yes, you are right. No badges on the arms on the real ones. See here:

This is earliest pattern of Flecktarn Camo Uniform of PLA, in my knowledge they were being used in Northeast Border China for a short period of time. And come with the above pattern.
