Very cool ACH, all you need now is a cover and cateyes, and your good to go Mate...nice one, not sure what the markings are all about, not seen that before Cool

And as before very cool Mk6a , I have always been a fan of these lids,( even though in use, it feels like ya heads in a vice) like the scrim netting and NVG....very cool Cool

Yep,on the lookout for a cheap ACH cover and the other bits.

Of the 3 MK6As ive recently bought this one is a keeper and the other 2 can go. Shame i cannot ID the TRF but will try to ask the previous owner if he has any history behind it.

The only French covers I'm missing now is ,an original two tone netting for my M-51, and the Spectra CCE cover..oh and the Spectra lid to go with it.

I saw a few spectra lids on, Ebay France , some fairly reasonable some very bloody expensive ..damn I want one Laughing

I remember seeing somewhere pics of the M51-Otan helmets with what looked like a green hood used as a helmet cover then secured with a rubber band-any ideas?

That rings a bell Rich, would'nt be the first time a nation wore a hood on there lids.

Not too sure if the French had a detachable hood around this time frame, but idf they did that's probably what they used Wink

Definitely remember seeing the pics but for the life of me cannot find them.

Reason they stay in my memory is that they were quite distinctive as they had sort of like vent holes either side-

My "Holy Grail" helmet...just a plain-jane MkII. This one was worn by my Grandfather in WWII. It was painted black sometime after the war by my Uncle Brian...stripped carefully by me about ten years ago. No unit flash, but I did uncover his signature inside the shell.

No worries Rich, modern stuff will be old stuff one day, so my advice collect it now, so when future collectors show these kind of lids, you can say " yeah, already got one, and collected it during that timeframe " Laughing

This helmet has seriously puzzled me and have been to various websites but still no answer as to its identity or country of issue.

Some say its an Orlite M76,others and Orlite OR201.

When it arrived the previous owner seriously wanted to hide its identity as both interior labels have been overpainted in some weird black substance-have tried turps, meths, lighter fluid to try to clean this horrible mess off and have now resorted to NITROMORS paint remover which has cleaned up one label but not the other.

Obvious from this that its Israeli made but from the various websites i gather these were exported to pretty much every African country and also that the Irish Army used them.
