Re: USMC Desert Marpat Blouse
Ah, desert MARPAT. That was the first digital pattern I ever added to my collection.
Glad you were able to pick one up with both nametapes and the original manufacturer's tag still attached! A lot of the surplus shops in my area remove the nametapes and cut out the tags on legitimate MARPAT sets they sell for some reason.

Thanks Ben.
I have been after one of these for a loooong time,so I was chuffed when I got this one for a bargain. I was even happier to have all the branch tapes in place.
I wonder why they remove the original manufacturer's tag's , it makes sense to remove name tapes, but not the American Apparel label ?
I've just got to add the woodland Marpat to the collection now, good things come to those who wait

Go to this link https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/f/utility35ll.gif/
Tigerstripe was one of final 3 choices for USMC before MARPAT was picked, Can't say MARPAT Tiger Stripe not same. Therefore Tiger Stripe or MARPAT.

The (experimental) desert and urban marpat. I haven't seen any pics of these being worn.
I have a cover in that pattern:

Oh no havent seen this at all, I know MARSOC has been pushing the marines to give them a specific pattern of their own but from what I heard it might be more of the older style woodland tri color.
I guess the stuff in the link above is back when they were field testing the digital patterns?

I've never seen any marine wear that pattern in pictures, however the embroidered EGA on the Hat is one of
the most Copied. Embedded on the material the EGA USMC is always a good indication it's authentic, even
when experamental. The 8 point Cap has an inner Tag.

Re: USMC Desert Marpat Blouse
Getting back to the Tiger Stripe question... the Marines did test a Tiger Stripe uniform at the same time as the initial MARPAT around January 2001. They had a silly feature of zip off sleeves. I've got the MARPAT version of that uniform. I've only seen 2 or 3 pictures of the Tiger Stripe set as part of some dog and pony show before the press.
Attached are two pics. Ignore the jacket on the left of the second picture. No idea why that's in there as it's a standard jacket.
The items pictured appear to be very advanced prototypes. The one I have, and is pictured in some other literature I have, is different than what's pictured below. It still has zippered sleeves, but has snap closures in places. It also doesn't have whatever that funky black liner is.

How much is a Desert Marpat Jacket worth? I have seen one in my local surplus store, looks like never been issued, £24.99, is that the right price to pay?
