    Another unknown DPM!

Post by koalorka on Sun Jun 12, 2011 1:25 pm

Hi folks, this seemed pretty straightforward initially, but this smock has some odd features that make me question its origin, have a look:

The colours are too bright, especially the green, though the quality of the pictures is poor and I apologize for that. The buttons are all unpainted brass, whereas in the British smocks they are painted black. There are no labels or tags on it either. Also, the knitted cuffs appear to have a different shape..

    Your thoughts?

    Thanks.

Are there any tags inside? It looks similar to an issue para smock I got in the mid-1980's - the press studs looks as if they may have been anodised dark and then merely worn off. It looks good to me ....

I own a Parachutist Smock of the 1980s variety and that's why I raised these concerns. This just doesn't seem correct somehow, I thought it may have been an Iraqi copy but the jumps wings disqualify that theory.

Who else used a copy of the English DPM?

In the 80s there were many makers of commercial copy kit such as Para Smocks,Windproofs etc so could well be a Radar,SASS or Survival Aids copy but having said that im sure somewhere i have a genuine smock that has the same press studs.
