Ukrainian Aviation Camo Suit

This is an unissued Ukrainian aviation camouflage uniform that is dated 2003.

Jacket: Heavy-duty zipper front with single snap closure at waist. Elasticized waist band. Two vertical zippered pockets at chest level. Zippered lower pockets. Sleeve pockets are zippered with smaller pocket with Velcro closure. Mesh ventilation panels in the back of the jacket and in the arm pits.

Pants: Zipper fly with snap closure at the waist. 6 belt loops. Suspenders with D-ring attachment in front and button attachments in back. Slash pockets on each hip. Pockets on the front of each thigh with snap closures. Snap adjustments on pant cuffs. Mesh ventilation panel in crotch area.

Erick, this is not Ukrainian uniform. This is Russia.
Pay attention to the language of the stamp - Russian.
Figure of the camouflage - 100% soviet "Butan", Ukrainian "Butan" differs in some details.
I'm sure 100% that this is a Russian uniform.

I was unable to read the stamp but the camo coloration of the uniform looks Ukrainian to me. I have not yet seen a Russian uniform with the black and bright green colors before.

Would you be able to explain the differences between Soviet "Butan", Ukrainian "Butan"?

Here is a photo of the stamp on the pants. Can you read what the stamps say? The lettering on the stamp looks like it may read OOO Ведис = Vedis LLC??



"Vedis" LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY looks to be a Russian company. Could it be possible they make aviation uniforms for the Ukraine??

Erick, look at the picture. On the Soviet and Russian "butane" there is a small element of the picture - a lonely spot (black point). I circled it in white. This spot is available only in the Soviet pattern. Ukrainian "Butan" has not such spot.

So pretty easy you can distinguish between Soviet and Ukrainian pattern.

Manufacturer - the stamp seems to be "ООО ВЭЛИС". But I cannot find such manufacturer. But there is a manufacturer with a similar name, "ООО ВЕЛЕС" and it sews army uniforms. Located in Moscow.

“Could it be possible they make aviation uniforms for the Ukraine??” - it is very doubtful. Both Ukraine and Russia has a lot of factories that can meet an army orders.

Looks just like the afghan era soviet helicopter 2 pc suit I had.

National Geographic did a superb 1 hr program ca. 1988 with camera crew that spent time with soviet units in afghan. This was a big departure, as to that time, all the correspondents wanted to be with the muj. The program featured interviews with alot of interesting soviet troops. they also had great footage of a stick of spec forces/desantniks wearing the Maputo od uniform. They also went on some flight with helicopter crews who were wearing this flight uniform. Never was able to get another copy of the program even after contactin NG.

In my flight suit I seem to recall a small pocket with a lanyard in the pants. This was for a springblade knife.
