SAS belt kit Empty SAS belt kit

Post by Scud Sun Jun 23, 2013 6:00 pm

Hi, my first post here so I hope it works (and it's in the right place).

Thought I'd share some pics of my belt kit and it's contents.

Thanks, here's another set more geared up for use in the jungle and customised/worn by the patrol medic.  I've got lots more old regiment kit (mainly black kit that's 100% accurate) that I may post later.

Nicely done!  Love these layout shots and the detail gone into it.  The '45 dated Millbank filters are a nice touch - we were still getting WWII dated ones issued when I joined up, pity I 'lost' mine along the way ...

I was lucky enough to come across a complete set awhile ago:

    SAS belt kit B-Junglewebbingfront

    SAS belt kit B-Junglewebbingrear

I also have separate pieces to assemble a '44 pattern based set similar to your first set ... which I'll get to one day!

Thanks mate, that's a cracking set you've got there too, I like the cammed stripes (it works well too), I'm slowly sorting through boxes of old stuff, if I find any '45 dated Millbank bags i'll let you know Wink.

Cheers, Scud.   Note that whoever put together my set modded a '58 Patt Kidney pouch in lieu of a proper SAS type ration/evasion pouch.  Those things are going for big bucks these days!  I've also never seen a knife scabbard like mine but it looks like its big enough for one of those Wilkinson survival knives.

Love to see your black kit as well.   Also like to hear more about what  other stuff you collect, if you could oblige by putting a short intro of yourself in the 'Intro' section of the forum that'd be great!

Welcome and I hope you'll find much to interest you here!

cool!  I havent seen these close up before.  How are the suspenders attached to the belt in the front without the typical '58 patt ammo pouches?

Mick, the front 58 straps attach to the belt with 44 pattern suspenders.  Here's a couple of pics to show it better.

    Cheers, Scud.

I thought the pics were fine - BTW what was the red handled device on the first vest - some sort of breaching tool?

BTW, under what conditions do you do your pics? Inside vs outside? Natural vs artificial light?

    Cheers,

Thanks Al but I just wasn't happy with them Rolling Eyes  They were taken inside using natural light, I'm actually experimenting with a new camera at the moment which doesn't help...

Yeah that was a fire axe used for 'method of entry', the coloured tape just identifies it to a particular team.
