Hey folks.....I have had this uniform for prob 5-6 years...at least...when I bought it (and I have a tan one similar) I was told it was a Republican Guards Special Forces Airborne Majors uniform....however I have been told recently (today) that this is not a Republican Guards uniform....because it doesnt' have Republican Guard patches or the special makers label/tag....so my question IS....is it correct to call this uniform a Republican Guards Uniform or not????

Looks to be post war to me. That tag is in a few of my uniforms as well. It's An Najaf's famous mosque.

Re: Iraqi Republican Guard ?????
ok thanks Steve....when I bought them back in 2006, the seller had listed them as Republican Guard....and the reason I thought they were is that Trident Militaria also lists the patches as being Republican Guard Special Forces...and noone has corrected me in the last 6-7 years lol

Re: Iraqi Republican Guard ?????
this is not a republican guard uniform. The uniform tag indicates that this is made in Najaf Iraq. Funny thing is they make police uniforms aswell for post war Iraq aswell using the same tag. The republican guards had many uniforms but for najaf ones they had a additional tag sewn inside right below the tag you have on this uniform. This is most likely Saddam era produced uniform but I have doubt about the patches aswell looks like post war ones aswell. Also republican guards have a red triangle on the upper sleeves fyi. Good news is that the major rank shoulder boards and uniform is from Saddam regime. Hope this helps!

Re: Iraqi Republican Guard ?????
I always thought that the patches were from the Wolf Brigade? Which technically carried out special operations missions particularly during the Iran Iraq War and during the Invasion of Kuwait.
Excuse me, I looked at the pictures closer and I see that these are not the exact Wolf Brigade patches

Re: Iraqi Republican Guard ?????
These were actually the standard shoulder insignia used by airborne/sf during the hussein regime and will into post hussein iraq. I've known examples from the hussein era and virtually indistinguishable from the current era.
Also, can't stress enough tho, uniform regs in democratic iraq have been pretty lax and you can see just about any combo of insiginia on any army or police uniform, tho I'm sure that's starting to change.
Here's a good website for strictly iraq stuff: covers all periods and some very knowledgeable people there (and many are members here as well!)
