    Here's what I see:

    1. Appears to be a genuine 2nd model tunic, late type (early had no collar badging)
    2. Rank doesn't look correct BGS type, but it's difficult to say
    3. Collar tabs don't look right, but I'd have to see a closeup to say for sure
    4. Missing arm badge on right arm. Should be eagle on shield, no "Bundesgrentzschutz" (that came later)

I presume this is something for sale/trade you're thinking of? If you're not interested in it, I might be if the price is reasonable. Also, if you are looking for a genuine older issue BGS uniform I have a couple of spares.

Hi Steve, all the insighia has been added, the collar tabs are ww2 type.
There are traces where the sleeve badge has been removed.
I have a couple of other tunics, both 1960's
I would like to grt the correct insignia for it.
Any idea what these go for ?
    Cheers,
    Fez

Normal pre 1975 service uniforms (Dienstanzug) tend to be in the EUR 30-EUR 50 range (jacket and trousers) if fully badged, great condition, and rank in the enlisted to mid officer range. Even the early 1960s uniforms aren't that difficult to find. Genuine senior rank jackets probably add EUR 20 to the price, whereas a genuine "general" range ranked original set could go for EUR 200-300 depending on condition and authenticity.

As with everything, there are exceptions. A 1st model (early 1950s) tunic would probably fetch close to EUR 200. Trousers might be in that range too. There simply aren't many circulating and a collector can go several years without seeing one if if he's looking carefully.

The 2nd model (which yours is) is also less common. I'd say correctly badged an early 2nd model (no collar tabs and NO signs of being tarted up) could probably fetch EUR 100. A correctly badged later 2nd model could probably go for EUR 75. Trousers probably around EUR 30-50.

Genuine badging for your jacket isn't too difficult to get. I'll take some pics of what you need.

    Hi Lee,

The best place to go for period photos is here:

    http://www.beim-alten-bgs.de/Zu_den_Kameradenseiten/Winfried_Schardt/1955_-_1956/1955_-_1956.html

Veteran pics, organizational details, and veterans' memories. Be warned, you're going to spend a couple of hours with your jaw on the floor Smile

For closeups of the various badging, I'll see what I have pics of already and post it here when I can.
