Blue/Green M43 Type Ski Caps.

Like this lot as they are super clean and complete with roundals and buttons(unlike a lot available).

These are all of the same type,soft stitched peaks with vent grommets-have another lot somewhere with stiffer peaks with no stitching and no vents.

This is a good find. Yeah, these hats came out pretty much all at once and most of them were brutalized. Unfortunately, most are child sized.

There should be only two styles, so if you see more than these I'm curious to know more:

1. BW style = one row of stitching on the edge of the brim, two vents on each side
2. BGS style = multiple rows of stitching on the brim, one vent on each side

The WAF guys and I had a discussion about these hats some time ago and nobody is really quite sure what the BW type is. It appears the BW style might be for a very rare early 1960s work uniform.

The BGS type is either for the 1962-1967 BGS field uniform (large cockade on olive drab background) or for various field uniforms for state Polizei (small cockade on green background). Polizei Einsatzanzug of the time period were nearly the same as BGS.

How does this information jibe with the bunch of hats you have?

Not sure where the other caps are to double check them and as for sizes,mostly small but sure there was a 57 or 58 amongst these.

No problem! The ones in the pics here are all the BGS type. They all appear to have the smaller, green backed bullseye cockade which is consistent with Polizei. I'm curious if you have any with the larger OD backed bullseye similar to what you see on the stiff brimmed BW type.

These hats were a bit of a surprise when they hit the market. The uniforms from various Polizei organizations and even BGS come up for sale every now and then, but never the hats. Then all of a sudden the hats came onto the market en mas. I bought a bunch for size and condition, but missing the badging/buttons, and a bunch with badging/buttons but either poor condition or tiny size. Between the two I cobbled together three very nice examples. Dealing with the liner on the inside is the tricky part, but then again I've got some experience
