This is a good find. Yeah, these hats came out pretty much all at once and most of them were brutalized. Unfortunately, most are child sized.
There should be only two styles, so if you see more than these I'm curious to know more:
1. BW style = one row of stitching on the edge of the brim, two vents on each side
2. BGS style = multiple rows of stitching on the brim, one vent on each side
The WAF guys and I had a discussion about these hats some time ago and nobody is really quite sure what the BW type is. It appears the BW style might be for a very rare early 1960s work uniform.
The BGS type is either for the 1962-1967 BGS field uniform (large cockade on olive drab background) or for various field uniforms for state Polizei (small cockade on green background). Polizei Einsatzanzug of the time period were nearly the same as BGS.
How does this information jibe with the bunch of hats you have?
