Amöbentarn shirt, tailor made? Empty Amöbentarn shirt, tailor made?

    Hi everyone!

Could you help me out with the shirt in this photograph (Congo, 1967): http://c7.alamy.com/comp/E0XR9C/aug-08-1967-a-mercenary-sams-with-terrible-toothache-outside-the-bukavu-E0XR9C.jpg

Is it a tailor made piece or did the Bundeswehr actually make and issue shirts like these? My guess is it is a tailored piece, but I´m no expert on early BW kit.

Wow! Now that is something! Yes, totally tailor made from a shelter half. Horribly hot and uncomfortable for the Congo! I think that might be why he's contemplating suicide Wink

One and only one item was made from this... shelter half (with matching bag/hood and tentpole pouch). Helmet covers were made for decades by BW soldiers, so those are pretty commonly seen. They were also made into SS type smocks for the big budget A Bridge Too Far film. I also had a set made to mimic a Moleskin uniform. I've seen a bunch of smocks over the years but only one Moleskin type set.

Shame as it's a really beautiful pattern.
