1980's panzer grenadier uniform and kit

Just to share my latest display ,late 80's west german uniform and gear ,my m85 helmet is in storage at the moment so have used this earlier model steel helm but you get the idea

Nice display!  You even have the correct (though not necessarily exclusive use) lightweight Y straps.

I'm not certain about the Uzi pouches.  I've not done a study of when these were/weren't in use.  I had thought the composite plastic type was used during the 1980s, then replaced with green nylon before being quickly replaced by Flecktarn.  Here's the composite type:

Note that one of these has a 1987 production date.  I've got a bunch somewhere I think some are even older.

Canvas was not generally used by Bundeswehr except in the early days.  So I had thought of the type you have as being from the 1960s.  Unfortunately neither of my recent publication BW books detail the Uzi pouches.

Are there any stamps inside your Uzi pouches?

The early Uzi pouches are possibly okay here. I have a photo book on Panzergrenadiers from exactly this period, and if I recall, these early webbing pouches show up in one or two photos. One nice accessory that is also visible in many of the images is the large vinyl flare pistol case. But I will check to see if I remember the photos correctly regarding the Uzi pouches. In any event, the vinyl ones are cheap and easy to find.

Many thanks Steve for your comments and those links ,ive looked over these canvas pouches in greater detail and cant see any stampings at all ,reference pictures of there use seem thin on the ground ,plenty of images of the uzi in use in the 80's but lacking the detail of the pouches ,thanks for your thoughts too Andrew ,be great to see some of those pics if possible ,I do have the flare pistol case you mention plus a radio case too worn over the shoulder I might re take the pictures to show these ,the display is standing in the living room for tonight so easy enough to drag outside in the daylight hours for those extra pictures

Bundeswhere on UNOSOM II mission. Are those Israeli mag pouches, or Bundy canvas?

All except the lower left appear to be the early olive nylon. The one at lower left appears to be Israeli, but as I recall, these ones (with the individual strap closures for each mag) show up in other BW photos. Nice image.

Many thanks camonut for the ref picture ,i will have to set up my full BW UNOSOM 2  display soon ,i think Steve mentioned the canvas as earlier issue ,my own research shows from around the 1960/70 and more so the olive plastic type in the 80's i added these loose mp2 pouches to the belt not really knowing if they were correct or not ,here also i show the differance on the g3 pouches mentioned ,i also added the flare gun holster and radio pouch and found my M1A1 modified to add to the display also to show this belt rig ,fitted with bw mp5 Feldjager pouches

Very nice! But not to be nit-pciking, but shouldn't the MP5 be the A3 lower and not the Navy trigger group? Even to this day the majority of MP5's in the German arsenal seem to be the old type.

Technically the MP5 isn't a Bundeswehr issued item anyway

Very nice radio pouch! That's not an easy bit of kit to come by.

The UZI pouch in the Somalia is not BW issue. Notice it has an integrated shoulder strap. Rest of the kit is standard BW issued late 1980s.
