French, or may be Spanish

If French, it should have a female press snap on one end. Therefore France can probably be ruled out.

Did any early BW belts have such a buckle?

Early BW belts have such Buckles but they were complete Cloth and have no holes to fit equipment.

This looks alike, an spanish army belt, in green, but previous model may be in "garbanzo" color

If Spanish, the khaki color was surpassed by the NATO green in 1978/9

I agree with Jose that it's probably Paracaidista from the 1960s or 1970s timeframe. There are tons and tons of variations of Spanish field gear, therefore it can be very confusing. You can see my collection here:

They are Spanish ones.

This models where introduced to Spanish Legion at least un 1977.

The white one is Military Police for sure, even used in Legion and probably other units including navy ones.

The green caki was used for several units, even Legion used that dark green in any period. Also coe, parachoutist and probably any others like a combat model.

Spanish webbing is a collector's dream and a nightmare at the same time! There seems to be no end to it.

As most you know my point of collection is Spanish Legion, but sometimes I touch other places I Would not.


Think when I joined Spanish Foreign Legion at least 50% troop had previous experience in any othes army even navy units, so there were old soldiers from coe, marines, paras, etc..
Of course officers and recently subofficers also came from other units aswell, cause in 1990 Spanish Legion inner formation for subofficers and officers had been suppressed.

Many things and many stories about that to tell. Anarchy for field equipment was served.

When my stuff eventually goes to other people (I can't live forever!) someone is going to be either very happy to have so much stuff at one time or annoyed. Depends on if the person collects this sort of thing or not

I spent years assembling all this Spanish kit. Rarely did I get a full set in one go. The most surprising find was one of the brown wool CETME magazine pouches I have. I found it at the bottom of a box of miscellaneous "junk" at a surplus shop in Dallas, Texas. It was the only interesting piece in the whole box. Well worth the time digging around and I think I only paid $1 or maybe a little more. Who knows how that got there.

Even in almost brown caki.

Remember woodland is now in classic patterns and digital pixel, both : green and desert.
