Brushstroke Gloves

Here today are my NZDF brushstroke/blotch gloves/mittens I acquired not long ago. From what I've been told they were used for a short period of time alongside a matching pattern hootchie around 1979-'80.
As I hear it they were intended as wet weather gloves, however the mitten style seems odd considering they are unlined, unless there were liners for them?
I haven't been able to find any photos of either in use, if anyone has some I'd love to see them.


For some reason one is shiny and longer than the other.

I was issued these when I joined in 1988. Next to useless, we also had wollen gloves with fingers that would have been worn underneath. Our NCOs never let us use them. The shiny appearance is most likely the glove has been made inside out by accident. The shiny surface is the silicon waterproofing coat, that side is the underside on the hootchie.

I think you are being overly generous These things wouldn't withstand even the most light use. I don't think they are even sturdy enough to operate a mess kit. Out of the thousands of items in my collection, I think these gloves might belong to the Top 10 Most Useless Bits of Kit category.
