    EARLY GEAR Empty EARLY GEAR

    Post by Camo-collector1951 Thu Mar 23, 2017 4:41 am

Hi all. Just putting up some pre WW1 pieces, the shoulder bag is from early 1900 judging by the rear buckles, alas no strap. The gaiters are very fragile & hard to date. any help with dating them would be appreciated. I have also put in a pic of an eagle snap belt that has plenty of field repairs, even putting a lift the dot flap in place of a damaged eagle snap one. The belt is a 1903 model. Hope you like. Nice pieces. I'm pretty sure the haversack and leggings are Span-Am War. The leggings may be WW1 and heavily treated with waterproofing and/or gas dessicant. They look like my WW1 pair , except mine are pea green. Yours look more brownish tan. I'll dig mine out when I get home.

Thanks 1stDivVet. The only picture I could find of these gaiters is from the cover of a book & the picture is from the Hulton Archive, but cannot find a description of the pic. Thanks in advance for any help. Jim.EARLY GEAR Dscn0746
