I've come across this weird black waterbottle.

The text on the bottle seem to be the same as on the regular bottles:

    NIET VERWARMEN
    KL 96

After that comes the nsn number (which is unusual on  a water bottle).

    NSN 8125 99 173 0116

a quick search gives me little extra information, The origin of it seems to lie in the UK. The manufacturers logo comes last, the maker is AVON a company located in the UK.

Searching online only shows me bottles from 1996 (as indicated by the KL 96 marking). So it might be an experimental model. The cap is also different as it has a valve. This allows a straw to attach so you can drink while wearing a gasmask.

Does anyone know more about this bottle?

Because the bottle is associated with the British type respirator perhaps the early examples came direct from UK sources.

I've found some more information about the bottle here.

The bottle was used in combination with the gasmask (also made by AVON I believe). It contained liquid food to be able to sustain yourself in a contaminated enviroment. It is no longer in use, the coating on the inside could flake of. The tops have been placed on regular bottles.

All in all an interesting item I think.

Yeah these were made for a very short time, I didn't know that was the reason for their demise though. I always thought it was funny how there were heaps of these bottles around without there being any pouches they actually fit in, as they're bigger than the normal ones.
