These photos are partly responsible for my Spanish amoeba addiction, but it would be a couple of years more before I actually acquired a few..
Smock is an M59 reversible ; the first Spanish camouflage pattern.. Beret is an infantry type .

Nice!!  Interesting to see the OD ("OTAN") trousers being worn with the camo jacket.  I don't think that was very common. Also, I'm guessing the beret was worn to impress the SOF readers. As far as I know they were not worn in the field.

Andrew, the equipment is this type by the looks of it:

No other photos of the webbing in the article.

The article was about the new ( at the time ) CETME squad automatic; basically a scaled down MG3.

Good complement of '80s web gear, Steve.  Like the beret, it was used to enhance the photo as I dont believe it was used with the M59 uniform.

Close up of buckle for Andrew..

Great photo showing canvas type web gear.
    Probably late 60s, early '70s.

Greetings, the person who appears in the photos is not a true military man, the uniform is a mixture of other uniforms and different times, when the AMELI machine gun was tested (my company was one of them in the 80's) the Spanish Z or M-42 helmet has been out of use for many years, as well as the camouflage jacket he wears, it is clearly a civilian posing for photos.

    Hi Ivan,

You are correct. The person in the photo is a member of SOF editorial staff. The photos were staged and uniform is incorrect in many ways . A mix of M59 blouse with olive green trousers and incorrect helmet for the time period.
Article concentrated on the Ameli ; guess they used what they had to give article some colour..

I'm fairly confident it was the first time most of us saw the M59 pattern.. It certainly was for me.
