    Patches of this genre is typically out of my range of collecting, but this one I couldn't pass up.....My question is authenticity ?

    It looks OK. Try a burn test on a loose thread. There were some really good fakes back in the 80's. This one looks more white back than the fakes did tho. try the black light test also. If it glows, it's bad.

    Now... modern laundry soap can make them glow. In my personal experience tho, even with a glow, it still has an overall dark look. Fakes glow bright. Even soiled fakes glow bright. The white will be almost as bright purple as the blacklight bulb. Even if the white looks yellowed or brown in normal light. originals will be a grayish white still. it will be a dark purple. cleaned ones just look like a glowing grayish purple. Still darker than a fake.
