Re: Can anyone identify this badge ?
I am presuming the Vulture is placed in front of an outline of the Country involved, but sorry i do not recognise the country if that is so. but maybe a clue to those with better geography than me?

I thought so at first but repeated comaprisons make me think not. What would be the land Border between France and Belgium, Luxembourg, Gemany and in particular is nothing Like the correct shape. It should be basically straight with wiggles, but on the badge it has a pronounced pointed bump extending upwards that French border does not have. (Almost where Luxembourg should be , and similar in shape to Luxembourg
)
Somewhere around Aberville the badge shows a large coastal estuary. No such estuary exists anywhere along the coast by the English Channel.
The land Border with Spain is far too long and extends out far to far into the mediteranean.....
I am wondering id this a State or part of a country, rather than a country itself.
Whilst superficially similar to France it is simply too different for me to accept this as France.

Re: Can anyone identify this badge ?
It looks like some sort of cap badge, is there another possible use for such a badge?
The bird (a vulture?) seems to be standing on something like a country. Perhaps an African national/ colonial unit?

Vulture often appears on Commando badges in France, but not depicted anything like the way this one is....

Re: Can anyone identify this badge ?
General style of badge is similar to this parachutists badge. i am sure badge is french Military, but I have darwn a blank looking for images Commando/parachutists/Air Assault/Air Force.
Maybe someone more clued up in French units and their insignia will drop by with some pointers.
