Finally go my hands on a pair of these. Now on General issue. Reason saw sense and the powers that be decided not to go with the "Reversed" map Pockets.
Main differences between this design and the trial version (besides the pocket angle) are the use of the larger type "canadian" slotted buttons on the pocket closures and the use of elastic on the leg cuffs instead of drawstrings. The elastic tends to be very slack though perhaps to allow for easier donning and doffing?? Also the material is a lot lighter than the old "Winter" trousers. AFAIK the new material is mid way in weight between the old Summer(tropical) and winter trousers.Cost saving measure of course as now only type of trousers need to be issued.
BTW The rollout of the new Crye style "Tactical trousers" to Operational units has been delayed due to the Covid Slowdown.
