I'm hoping somebody can assist with information.
I can remember my uncle wearing around the farm something I think may have been the issue cardigan but after 50 years my memory is faint and fuzzy
Also possibly pictures and original specifications
My only reference is the official instruction booklet giving the weight and that it is to be carried in the haversack

    Hi moondog, welcome aboard!
Unfortunately I've never even seen a WW2 Aussie cardigan/sweater prior to you mentioning it just now, so I went and had a look online and happened to find one for sale, dated 1942.
It's a khaki-ish color with a V-neck, and slots in the shoulders for what I'm guessing is to attach rank boards somehow.
Is this the same type you are referring to?

That's the jumper, it didn't change much and somewhere in the shed I should still have mine.
We got issued that one or one like it to wear in winter under the old Battle Dress if it was cold, later on we also got issued one of the "New" Howard Green jumpers for field wear. I still have my own and one that belonged to my brother
The cardigan was open with buttons and could be donned over the web gear.
Pix from Kokoda often show diggers wearing the jumper but I've never seen a picture or a description of the cardigan but as far as I know they were different issue items
Thanx for the warm welcome, a couple of people I buy from and communicate with are members here

Ah, thanks for the clarification. Yeah, it seems to be a pretty obscure piece of kit, so far I can't find any pics or references to it anywhere, only the jumper.
I'll keep an eye out and see if anything comes up, hopefully in the meantime maybe someone here knows something about it!
