    Contract Number of SL33a/3537

Manufactured by J.Compton Sons and Webb.

The year of manufacture is unknown because no product with a year of manufacture was found for the SL33a contract.

Green lightweight trousers from the same SL33a/3537 contract exist.

The manufacturer was also the same, J.Compton Sons and Webb.

Waist adjustment is with a buckle.
It's not a tab that closes with a button.

The design is the same as the green lightweight trousers.
Is it a product from before the Gulf War?
Is it a post-Gulf War product?

Certainly different having the exact design and layout of the olive lightweight trousers, I've never come across anything like that before.

Perhaps a trial item or maybe a rush production for Granby on an existing contract?

    thank you for your reply.
It's listed in the "Gulf War 1 Identification Guide to Gulf War 1 Militaria" on this forum and I've been looking for it for a long time and finally got it.

From your reply, I understand that these are trousers that are in short supply, so I am satisfied.

    Hi.

I have in my collection a 58 patt pouch made by CWL  date 1989 on SL33/4555 so your trouser are roughly somewhere between 1988/89.

    Wow!
Thank you for your great information.
I just learned for the first time that the contract number for the 58 pattern webbing made in the 80's was SL33a.
    Thank you for your comment.

Thank you for your valuable information.
Unfortunately, scrap fabric from 4 Color Desert DPM was not used for the lining of the trousers shown.
I would have been happy if scraps of 4-color dessert DPM fabric had been used.

4 Color Desert DPM is beautiful.
I've seen Iraqi Army 4-color Desert DPM jackets with labels that read "Made in England."

The 4 colour in these are later issue rather than the early 1980’s stuff, same print as these with the 2 colours added. I had a pair myself I’ll look see if I have old photos of them.
