French's new snow camo? Empty French's new snow camo?

    Post by Mercenary25 Wed Sep 30, 2009 10:29 pm

Found those photos out of another forum. Have anybody seen this pattern before? It would be a cool pattern to obtain.

Also, in first photo, soldier appeared to have ACU pouches.

First pic I'm thinking "boy, that camo sucks". Second pic I'm thinking "wow, that's really effective!" Like so many camouflages, what works great for one type of terrain stinks for another. Put those guys in an open field of deep snow and they'd likely stand out like sore thumbs.

Not that I don't want one of these for my collection Wink I like it better than the other types I've seen pics of. I've seen pure white, a 3D "leafy" camo with gray under side, and a partial mesh white/lizard pattern type. My understanding is the latter two were experimental, though I don't know about that for sure.

I think the pink is kind of funny....that camo looks SUPER weird up close, but seems to be pretty effective at a distance. i still personally prefer the German green spikey splotches on white, that cam pattern works the best in almost all snowy areas from what I have seen, PLUS its reversable to white!

When we worked with a few guys from 10th SFGA, few had a pattern like these. I liked it and asked where they got it, but then got busy doing other things and forgot. I wish I and the fellow I was talking with had thought to bring it back up-it is very effective in the normal type of snow/winter enviorns we (the U.S) will find ourselves in (mountains especially).

"Our" Arctic overwhites are not bad once they are "modified" with the ol' rattle can of spraypaint. If anyone knows where I can get a set of these,in MY size, not for collecting but for wear, and a price it would be much appreciated.I will even take Our overwhite sets. I would need a Med or Large, since they are cut big anyway.

That camo has actually been in use by their Mountain troops for a few years now - the pattern was developed, and the suits are made, by Arktis in the UK.

I've seen the smocks in the Arktis catalog, but haven't been able to find information on much else.

I just played Modern Warfare 2 and realized that the Russians are wearing the same camo in snowy missions. Smile

Only "chasseur Alpin" (mountain troop) have received that, but it is not a standard, just a trial, a think!
