Believe it or not, there is one item of DPM kit I don't have. lol!
I am looking for a Soldier 2000 issue DPM combat smock. These are exactly like the S95 ripstop smocks, except the only difference is the material. These are constructed from a "gabardine" type material, much the same as the hooded SAS or Arctic Windproof smocks.

If anyone has one or can point me to a US-based retailer who might, I'd be very grateful.

The reason I ask for a US-based purchase opportunity is because the issuer of my bank card does not allow for currency-conversion-style transactions. It's a pain in the butt, but it's one of their policies and isn't negotiable unless I'm physically overseas using the card. Evil or Very Mad

    Cheers.

    Ben

Hi Ben are you sure it was of gaberdine type material? The reason I ask is that my Ghillie jacket is made from something like that but the material is heavier like the old style combat jackets that came about mid 80's but unlike those it has the two zipped pockets (Brecon Pockets) like the ripstop combat jackets.

I am not really sure, that is what many listings I have seen said it is, but I honestly do not know... All I know for sure is that its not the ripstop material, but a poly/cotton mix similar to that of the CS95 combats. This jacket also has the brecon pockets like you mentioned. If I remember correctly, this run of jackets were part of the Soldier 2000 run of combat clothing, and were intended to replace the CS95 ripstops that were disliked for their fraying and fading.

The type of jacket I'm after is like this:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/British-Army-S2000-Windproof-Combat-Jacket-170-88_W0QQitemZ400100772160QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Collectables_Militaria_LE?hash=item5d27dd4940

It seems like a "slicker" kind of material different from the 1980s smocks. I have a 1980s smock and that material is very thick, and doesn't appear to be the same as the jacket I am looking for.
