LAND 125 DCU??? Empty LAND 125 DCU???

Post by lammasulyon Tue Jul 13, 2010 5:38 am

Some time ago, a mate told me that the ADF was planning to make the Land 125 uniform cut in DCU colours, meant for OPFOR uses.

Is he true? If so, why hasnt any specimen, photos or even just a official reference turn up anywhere?

If he is true, it would be very very interesting to see a set here!

If, by DCU, you are referring to the three colour US type OpFor cam then I think that would be unlikely. There are plenty of stocks of obsolete patterns of DPDU to last for a long time yet. Not forgetting that OpFor cams are only issued for the duration of the exercise and then handed back in to be washed and stored for the next time. Very rarely will a generous Quartermaster 'write it off'.

I have seen, however, a Land 125 uniform in 1st pattern DPDU material ...

No, it was being worn by a SNCO preparing for deployment - perhaps if we're lucky he'll have his picture taken while over there and it'll come up on the ADF website ...

that set the SNCO has, would be something id kill for

maybe is that surplus fabric was found in the ADA factories, so they used it for this guy

SNCO- does this mean he is a pogue?

That's what I thought too. Normally this would be fairly tightly controlled but I guess to the untrained eye, 1st pattern DPDU looks quite similar to 3rd pattern DPDU. You'll find that a lot of ADF uniforms and equipment are made by sub-contractors rather than ADA.

SNCO = Senior Non-Commissioned Officer => Sergeant or Warrant Officer => not necessarily a pogue (in this case, Air Defence Artillery)

Well how recent is this uniform, and i reckon there would be a batch made with the same fabric

but what would be indeed surprising is that ADA finds some leftover 2nd version DPDU and turns it into a LAND 125 uniform....who knows, it might just happen..
