In the inside of the waist band of the pants , there is the same pattern but almost black , so three color variants to this one so far , Im sure quality control is not always the best where these were made .

Re: Zaire Leopard camo
They come up for sale very rarely, sometimes with badging. Turns out Steve H knows the 2nd high bidder quite well, but not as well as I do
Steve, I'll see if I can find my orphan trousers. If they are a better match for your shirt I'd be more than happy to do a swap. However, from memory I'd say your trousers and mine match.

I still think $500 is surprisingly high, but then again I'm constantly surprised how much rare stuff is going for these days.

Re: Zaire Leopard camo
You both know this is on the Holy Grail list of many a collector. $500 is way too rich for my blood though. IF I ever won the lottery.......
I am still kicking myself for not buying the Zaire Leopard pattern advisor set Leo Karlin had back in the early 2000's. It was fully documented with paperwork.

Superb uniform, no idea you had one. While I don't have a DDR amoeba set I have an unidentified potentially DDR-made early splinter..
My senses are numb now to the pricing on eBay. $500 for a shirt with a busted shoulder strap no longer ignites a desire to flog myself with an extension cord as it once had.

Re: Zaire Leopard camo
Beautiful set, don't know if I'd pay $500 for it though. I guess being in college I'm in a different league than you all as far as how much I can and will shell out for stuff that catches my fancy, but my rule is generally not to go over $250 for completing a set of something unless it's spaced out over a long period of time, or was something worn by someone of note. Conveniently enough for me, most of my interest areas range far below that number.

Re: Zaire Leopard camo
$570 just for the shirt , is just crazy , I dont remember what I paid for the above set , but it was not even it that ballpark , I am just too cheap to go that high for anything , Steve do you remember how much my auction ended for ???

Also I just noticed the high bidder has private feedback , so there might have been some shill bidding going on , it might come up again LOL .

Re: Zaire Leopard camo
it went to japan... this guy is the same guy who paid $345 for a south african 32nd btl...
Is a very sought pattern, but we all agree that $570 is just an absurd... i think camo in japan is really high fashion right now and this pattern is used by a major high fashion camo label in there, so owning the real deal must have a special meaning...
the thing is it doesn't mean that the next of it will sell for same value... but it definitely increased the value of your set steve - im sure is already a great investment hehehehe (better than any stock market)

Re: Zaire Leopard camo
I dont care what it is worth , I just think its cool !!!!!
You would have to be amazingly skinny to wear the set I have , the waist is like 19" , I was probably 10 years old when I had a waist that size LOL .
I hear what your saying about the fashion end , I saw the jacket made in this camo , its pretty cool ! I think it was supreme that made it , they got the pattern perfectly !

Re: Zaire Leopard camo
Steve was aiming his humor about the DDR set right at me Speaking of that set... holy crow... how much do you think I could get for mine?!? I might be able to retire early!
Anyway, Steve was the lucky winner of the set in the first post for a paltry $208. This was just shy of 2 years ago. And at the time he beat me out because I wasn't willing to go higher than that. And nobody else was either! This despite the fact that the seller knew EXACTLY what it was and had it very well positioned within eBay. Which means the price wasn't the result of someone putting it in the fashion section or what have you.

I knew I paid too much , I must have been feeling rich that week , rarely do I go that high , even when I know Steve is bidding against me , Which I did not know at the time , The DDR jab was not aimed at you Steve , I swear , I just would love a set of the stuff , but know I probably never will .

Re: Zaire Leopard camo
heh... because if I dropped $10,000 for a rare pair of SS socks, how would I afford 9 experimental Bundeswehr uniforms and a half dozen rare Hungarian uniforms all in one week after getting a dozen bits of Estonian kit? Not that I can afford all that stuff either
