    Hello,
Here is a modified 6 color patrol cap. This cap is commercial (with the map pocket) and doesn't show very much use, however there is flag sized velcro in the back and on the inside part of the back along with velcro on the top that is about 2" x 2". I've always heard of SF guys putting color flags on the inside of thier hats so in case they got into Close Quarters Combat they could reverse thier caps and tell friend from foe.

--Faked DCA Number? 10 digits, if you don't count "DCA," but if you do...

Also, does the OD fabric inside constitute a rarity, or is that just more fancy on my part?

Very interesting cap you've got there. It should say DLA not DCA. I did a google search with the 8415-00-084-1683 stock number but couldn't find anything.

--Yar, it should indeed. I actually spent about 2 hours trying to locate anything about it, and the best answer was that "DCA" is a very rarely used abbreviation for "Defense Contract Administration." These numbers are sometimes spoofed, and were not used until the 90's (according to somebody who was really on-point with the subject).

So, the "84" here is, I surmise, indication of a Simulated Contract Number.

What's weird about this, Philip, is that I read this thread yesterday, and located this thing today. (?!)
