Got these pics from a friend who's son was serving in Afghanistan , he is a member of a Army Sniper team , and they decided to do something about the bad coloring of the ACU's , so they painted them .

Re: Painted ACU's
Very interesting , Steve. I knew some units actually would dye their ACU's various colors duch as brown, green, or ablack. Never knew about the painting thing though. Thanks for sharing.

Very interesting modification. I think these look cooler than UCP-D!

Same. The UCP-D was great idea to improve the UCP, but I think the brown used was a bit off in the shade used.

Haha, that's not difficult. UCP-D is one of the ugliest digital camos out there.

Any photos of literal coffee-stain camo? That'd be interesting to see.

I have seen some, but in my stupidity, I didnt download them. I will keep my eyes open though.
What they do is brew up some really nasty coffee and just dunk the whole thing in there to make the lightest green color turn more of a brown. Not quite like UCP-D, its much more subdued.

Re: Painted ACU's
Interesting... similar to the Brits dyeing their service uniforms with tea leaves way back in the day.

My friend found a few of dyed ACU's few years ago, I believe he found tan set and another set in green, both from the SFG (can't recall the number) and he sent me photos of those. However he told me not to share his photos with public for the obvious reason: He was afraid that it would fakers a idea as it is TOO EASY to do. So I respect his wish. He did actually offered me to buy this set but I turned down.
Coffee was used by those who didn't have access to dye so they had to improvise however it probably doesn't look much difference from brown or tan dyed ones.
