Re: Libya
Nice pictures! In particular I like this one:
Notice the guy on the far left, under his brown overcoat, is wearing the BGS Sumpftarn knockoff shirt.

Re: Libya
Hi Oliver, is a littlebit of all, but one of the captions (for the guys wearing dpm pants and choc chip shirt with anti air craft ammuniton belt around his neck) says:
"A Libyan army paratrooper who defected and joined the popular uprising against leader Moamer Kadhafi loads an anti-aircraft machinegun atop a truck in the eastern Libyan port city of Benghazi on February 26, 2011. AFP PHOTO/PATRICK BAZ (Photo credit should read PATRICK BAZ/AFP/Getty Images)"
cheers

Re: Libya
I think they were issued to some troops, i have a BGS libyan uniform in my collection and the quality is really low, also pattern seems slightly different from the german version... For what i know they started issuing those uniforms in the 70's

Re: Libya
Yeah, to be clear the "BGS" uniforms are purpose made for Libya, not from Germany at all.

Re: Libya
Hi, I've recently get a supposed libyan uniform, the camo is the same as the one described in camopedia in the libyan section; It is the woodland version that incorporates an "eagle" motif within the design itself.
My questions are; are camopedia references reliable? and Do anyone have already seen a photo of this "eagle" camouflage worn by any libyan troops?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Re: Libya
Ewww, I hate civil war-type conflicts...
But the conflict really did show the myriad of patterns in service under Khadaffi's regime, since both his 'government' troops and the rebels kitted themselves out in whatever was available .
But Wizz, I bought an 'eagle pattern' woodland set myself, and have yet to see any pictures or proof it really was a bonafide Khadaffi-commissioned pattern. Though incorporating an eagle motif, or any animal print really, in your nations camouflage fits quite well with being a crazy 3rd world dictator, I guess.
Poor quality or not, I would love to get my hands on a Libyan BGS set, as I find it to be one of the finest, earliest and most succesful attempts at creating a universal pattern.

Hello,
Do not see so many patches in this thread.
Here are few. I imagine the one on the top left is for the beret.

Re: Libya
Yup, that's the infamous Hanger II sets. Never been shown to have a link to Libya, though. There's a thread somewhere on this Forum where we discussed this in some detail. The OG-107 cut doesn't conform to pictures and the pattern itself doesn't appear to be the same. Just looked for the thread and didn't find it though. Sorry!
