Yeah, but it really helps keep the shirt on the hanger for the photo shoot Very Happy

One quick question though, and I presume a silly one, but the CADPAT tempered jackets I have seem more like shirts, and are not too different in textile from the arid ones, and then I've seen the big ICE, goretex parkas.

Now, is there any kind of intermediate combat jacket or is it straight from 'extreme' one to the other?

Ronnie, here's my ICE 'intermediate' jacket.

    Hi Dave,

Wow, how in blazes did I ever miss that thread and that great jacket? Really great!

Now if you'll all excuse me; I'll just pop out to get a second job, and start saving up for one!

It's definately not like you to miss a thread Ronnie ! Perhaps you were occupied by the outlaws (missus' parents ) ? Laughing I must admit that i paid a pretty penny for this jacket. However it was the same as i got for the other one i sold. So i got a mint jacket that fits nicely for the same price as a well used one that was too big for me. They fit about 2 sizes bigger than usual. Probably to allow for layering in those bitingly cold Canadian winters, eh ? Wink I'm normally a 7046 - 7048 and my smock is a 7040 !! Not much room for layering but no need to in the UK. Just a t shirt and light sweater is enough.

So, keep an eye on ebay and go for one smaller than you would normally go for and maybe you'll get a bargain !

I cannot attest to the wear of it with body armour, however when I wear my tac-vest with it the collar stays as is. And, My jackets hang just fine on a hanger when done up to the second last button. Anyways, to each his own. Smile

I was merely kidding in pure and good spirit, Kind Sir!

But Tyler et al; and I know I keep asking you Canadian boys: but are there any UBACS-type shirts or other Canadian issued camouflage'd gear that we should all know of? I would love to see pictures of any such pieces!
The mid-range combat jackets were a genuine blind spot in my knowledge of Canadian Forces gear, so thank you all for this thread!

    Cheers!

As stated here, just walk onto any CFB (Canadian Forces Base) and you'll see all generations of CADPAT being worn.

And despite the rumours, its not called the ECU its called the ICU Improved Combat Uniform, and yes from what I have been told it has begun being issued. The ICU is simply the US Army's ACU Cut in CADPAT with the ecception that the ICU will have buttons instead of a zipper in the front. Dont expect to see theese anytime soon though as DND will do their best to use up the current stock of combats first (as they do not officially surplus them).

They exist. The Canadian Shooting Team (from the 'Van Doos') at this year's AASAM were wearing them.

There is also a nice CadPat fleece set , very thick fleece , similar to the greens that were issued a few years back . But now the shirt has two breast pockets . I picked up a shirt not to long ago , but it's a small size . I love my green set .

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but... where'd you guys manage to find authentic issued CADPAT ICUs in ANY version? I've been looking, and the closest I can find is the crappy CPgear.ca knockoffs.

I'm retired RCAF. I'd like to build out a uniform I can preserve and hand off to my kids - especially since I was a part of the Clothe the Soldier project that DEVELOPED these damn things! Smile

Yes, they wear out very and fade very quickly compared to other uniforms. However, I think the more recent ones probably last longer than the early 2000s type. But that is just a guess.
