Re: Rhodesian Denison Smock.
Difficult to tell for sure from the photos but if it's a sand colour, then yes, it is a Rhodesian para smock. It is is green, then it's an aussie one.
I have seen colour photos if this in use in the bush. But bearing in mind that there were plenty of combat jumps made in shorts and shirts, I wonder why this would have gotten much use in the heat. Unless used for sleeping in.

Re: Rhodesian Denison Smock.
It ain't an Aussie one. Apart from the colour, Australian Denisons are full-length zipped, no knitted cuffs and usually with the CGCF tag.

I've had two Aussie smocks, both were near mint with clear labels. Both were half zip ........... I'm not saying that later ones weren't full zippered or that mods weren't done but I'd be suprised if both the ones i had had been modified to have half zips.
Just saying ...... Dave

Re: Rhodesian Denison Smock.
Now you're asking. T'was a long time ago. Pretty sure it was the 60's. I think one was my birth year of 1963 and other '65. I probably have photos but it was back in the days of film rather than digital so they could be anywhere in my attic .......

Re: Rhodesian Denison Smock.
Aparantely it has been authenticated as a Rhodesian Denison by a collector of Rhodie stuff and was offered a decent price for it a while back as rarer than WW2 Denisons so for now will keep it even though it(like a lot of stuff)doesnt fit into any particular part of my collection other tha its a Denison
Shame the label is faded though.

Re: Rhodesian Denison Smock.
If only rarity was the sole determiner of price, eh ? I have many rare things but they are either so rare that few know what they are or they carry less kudos than common items like camo Denisons.

Like that green 63 Patt windproof you got for a steal
Some items i have if i were to sell are worth nothing or peanuts cash wise but are worth more to me personally so i guess what is anything worth these days, what somebody is prepared to pay which these days especially on Ebay can be stupid money for mondane, non rare items.

Indeed ! and remember, that could be yours if you have a '63 patt DPM smock to trade for it .......Gulf91 wrote: Like that green 63 Patt windproof you got for a steal

Very true. I don;t have much of what I was issued with but what I do still have has now got a sentimental value beyond its' real worth. Just wish I'd felt that all along rather than after getting rid of some very nice kit I had from my days as a youf .....

Similar in layout to the P59 smock in layout I noticed, minus the zipper of course.
