Strange Tiger stripes uniform

Today i was finally able to ID a very unique tiger stripe like uniform.
I know is a very rare item and until now there was a lot of debate if this piece was even real, or used in the Vietnam war.

So apparently this was used by the army and air force helicopter/c-130 pilots/gunners..
here is the only pic I've ever seeing...



and some pics of the uniform. I know Arch also owns a set like this (mine is only the shirt)

I would post this in the U.S. forum in the Tiger thread, if you have not already . to me and I may be wrong , but the patterns do not match , the Helo guys pattern has been identified in the past as Thai and you jacket is something else , they would know on the U.S. forum as I am not an expert .

thanks for your input. the photo is not 100% clear so is hard to say, i still think is a match, i also have the Thai vertical tiger stripes and also the philippino vertical and they are all different, this was the closest match i found so far on that pattern. Also the fact that is an air crew member also checks with the "air force" tab...

Anyway i never went to the US forum and i don't think i belong to them, but i guess is a good idea to check with them, i am sure they are much more knowledgeable about tiger patterns than i am.

My first impression was the same as Steve's... not the same pattern. There is a far "busier" style of Tiger Stripe and that's apparently what the gunner is wearing.

I'd see what some specialized Vietnam collector group has to say about it. There's so, so, so many variants out there and even more fakes. Which is why I don't collect Vietnam stuff.

Hi Guys ,
This is NOT the pattern seen in the above photo , that is the Viet Silver pattern.

This jacket is in fact a Philippine pattern 2nd print circa 1975.

You will find several cuts including this US 2nd model jungle uniform and also a Utility uniform.

Fabric can be both Herring bone and heavy cotton.

First pattern is darker - murkier , second pattern is Bright like this.

This uniform should NOT be considered a custom as is was regular issue , and this USAF Capt may have been some sort of advisor etc .

I just sold a pair of matching 6 pocket trousers several months ago !!

So it looks like this is not the same uniform after all.

Well i did discover a couple of things

First this is not a philippino camouflage. I have other TS from the philippines, including the first TS pattern and they are totally different patterns. Second the shirt has same cut as South Korean uniforms from the 60 and 70's i have a few korean shirts that are the exact same cut. Besides i don't recall any uniforms from the philippines with in HBT with zippered pockets on the arms.

Good news is that the TS on the photo looks very similar to my Thai vertical tiger stripes... here are some photos.. so you were right about not being the same pattern..

I think the origin of this uniform is probably south korea, but was used by US personnel during the war...

Anyway here are pics of the Thai vertical TS and the old philippines TS pattern

It is a Philippine pattern , I have a set that came directly from an advisor who was there.
