The pattern and colors are post war , the fact they are ripstop is another dead giveaway , there is only one pattern that could have possibly made it to Vietnam in rip stop and the smooth cotton version did and has been documented , that would be the Thai Large pattern , the ripstop version seen below has not been officially document as far as I know , however a rip stop set named to a known individual was sold on ebay for big bucks along with other uniforms and items he owned , he was a Marine named Pope , I am sure owen knows more about it and be of more help then I .
Late war Thai pattern in rip stop , commercial hunting shirt made by Chief .
I wasn't meaning to sound argumentative. Your reasoning is sound.
You see... I live in Spook Central. You find a lot of crazy stuff here-- much more than I ever did when I lived in L.A., BUT-- with that abundance comes the caveat that much of what you find is not what you thought it might be. As I am learning.
And I am learning
Thanks for the input. I am glad I joined this forum, despite the rather humbling start I've gotten off to.
Steve, who makes the best JWD or gold copies ? If I can't get originals, then a set of good repro will have to do. Tigers are about the only uniform i would get a repro of. Maybe a decent reversible sumpftarn parka too .....
There are some nice ones that were made in Japan a few years back , the name escapes me , other then that , the Tiger Stripe Products version looks real nice , they made some early sets in the wartime cut without any logo in the pattern that look pretty decent , to be honest though , this is Kammomans era of expertise , you should ask him !!
Not so keen on the Moore ones - from what i can see on their scabby quality photos ...... there is one China based seller seems to have some good ones for around £50 for a shirt. Looks like I'll go that way then.

I was also after a decent but if there is such a thing reasonable priced Tigers and have a couple of sets of early Tiger Stripe Products ones so if the opinion is that they are ok then can save some cash and keep what i have!!!
The MASH Gold & Silver pattern tiger stripes are the best that have ever been made. Unfortunately, they have no plans on making any more. On thier website they have M-65 compass pouches made out of the left over material and early style USN / USMC flight helmet bags, also made out of this material.
