I cant imagine these were very fun to wear , made out of a rough burlap type material , they would make me itch more then wool, very cheaply made .
these suits are easy to get and fairly cheap , i imagine they made them in the hundreds of thousands if not millions .

Here's an afghan war record album showing a para stick wearing them.

I think it is supposed to be worn over uniform.

Typically, in Afghanistan they'd wear it by itself with just the striped t-shirt, Dark blue striped shirt for ground troops and light blue striped shirt for airborne.

You've got an amazingly broad collection Panzer!

    and 9 jillion color variations.

I think you're off by about 1 or 2 jillion Very Happy Many years ago I got a really smelly (basement storage) set. I put it in cold water with a minimum of detergent. When I pulled it out I created yet another color variation because about 1/2 of the dye was left in the buck of water! I guess in Afghanistan they didn't have to worry about the color running in the rain much.

    Steve,
On the collectors market, what are the Soviet burlap sets going for? I saw more burlap in Russia than any other pattern. You are quite right as the Soviets mfg well over severak Ga-Jillion sets in this potato sack fabric. I found one in my size and used it for Opfor training. One way to beat the rough out feel of the burlap is to wear thin cottom long underwear ( Not the winter weight ones from shops in ME or VT. Wink Bruce

Prices are all over the place. I'd say they're not worth more than $35 a set, but sellers seem to disagree. I've seen them for several times that amount. They don't appear to sell at that price, though. Pretty easy to find.

    Steve,
Thanks for the info. Yeah I have a few differant sets of the potato bag camos inmy collection. I saw so many differant patterns while in Russia it seems like they did the dye jobs to match the terrain that they "worked" in. Didn't see the movie pattern anywhere. Gas anyone? Rolling Eyes I am bad. pirat

Nice pictures! Always good to see color photos of uniforms in action. I also like the little scrap of woodland camo. Always fun to see where scraps wind up! I found bits of Strichtarn used for internal shoulder padding on a DDR wool tunic. That was a surprise!

KZS is good suit for sports and hot summer. This is not durable, but it's cheap.
In Russia about 10-15 $ usually.

Yep, they come in size 3, most of the ones I have are 3 but they are harder to find.

Thats why I was asking. I have been looking for one since April and I have heard that they are out there (somewhere). I still have yet to see one. Seems like the market on these is flooded with size 1 and 2 but 3 is next to nothing. Makes me wonder why. The search continues.
