My Russian MVD set Empty My Russian MVD set

Post by bloodsword Thu Jul 07, 2011 11:02 am

This is my first own thread here on the Rus/Sov side. I collect mostly later Soviet, poor Russian 90`s stuff and some new stuff.

    My Russian MVD set DSC_0193

Here is one of my MVD OMON sets. Quite rare stuff and expensive on the market.. The Kora Kulon is the heavy lvl 5 version. (shot twice in the chest, if you can spot the holes)
    Not in picture:
-Splav belt + baton + handcuff pouch

Needed to complete the set (getting both maybe soon):
    -Some Russian boots
    -Leather gloves

    What do you think?

Very nice, I love the urban tiger camo pattern! That helmet is interesting as well.

Amen to that... I've wanted a set forever, missed out on a set of it on eBay some time ago by $1! I haven't been right since. Laughing

bloodsword -- how warm/waterproof are the heavy MVD camo sets like yours? Are they similar to Goretex or just a cheapish nylon outer-shell suit? I have seen them being worn in lots of photos, so I assume they must be decent enough to withstand Russian winter conditions, but then again I also know how sub-par some issued Russian kit can be as well.

Its not produced by Ana, I think its Splav. Splav makes otherwise quite horrible stuff, but the winter sets seems to be rather ok.
Its proven wind and water proof here in the poor Finnish winter and autumn, quite comfortable to wear on a cold summer eve too! Not close to any goretex, and good that way, because it wouldnt have the Russian feeling to it!
BTW, I got the MVD boots and leather gloves (and 6B23, Makarov etc), so the modern OMON set is complete. Maybe I need to get my weight from 100kg to 130 kg so I would look more like a fat old OMON officer too!
I have a Urban reed and Woodland winter sets too, I can post later photos if you guys are intrested, got a blue tiger summer suit too.

Looking forward to seeing your other uniforms. Are they fairly easy to come by in Finland?

I love all the blue Russian camo patterns, I think they look so cool. I have a set of Uzbek blue reed, it's a direct copy of the Russian version, just with Uzbek manufacturing stamps.

Its quite easy to get stuff here, the usual ones that is. What comes to omon and protective stuff such as helmets and body armors with plates, its hard to get it cross the border. I dunno if you get caught, youll end up in the gulaks? Very Happy
It takes like 4 hours from helsinki (capital of finland) to st petersburg where all the miltary shops are. Mainly i get my stuff from private collectors in finland who have quitted collecting and im getting stuff for good prices. I get modern stuff from soviet propaganda easy, because dmitry drives like once a months past my job, so he provides nicely stuff i need.

I don't know what'd happen if they caught you with armour and/or plates ... Border guard units might have a field day; probably something not worth risking. Laughing

What's the absolute chepeast price one can find a summer-weight blue tiger camo uniform for? Might have to add Finland to my Euro-trip itinerary. Cool

If you get lucky ,private sellers might sell them for 40-50 euros. Regarding russian border troops ,there was one loose here in finland 10 years ago. He made a big brawl in a town near the border involving shooting at the police and driving a getaway car. He commited suicide at the end.

Well, instead of Finland I`d maybe buy stuff from Ukraine or Estonia if you have the possibility, stuff is quite cheap and pretty easily available there. St Petersburg would be the best choice. You might just get lucky in Finland with private sellers, even though we have few shops here who sell Russian/soviet stuff.

Here is a re-enactment photo of me in MVD set:

Wow I thought they were pics of a real soldier at first glance, nice job looks really "Russian" the way you mixed the cammos.

I have a red "fakel" winter suit, it probably one of my rarest Russian uniforms, but I never seeing pics of anybody wearing it, besides a few posed shots for the Desmond book.

Your Russian stuff is really neat, I always liked the gorka E uniform.

    Cheers

Well thanks for the compliments. I can provide more "war pics" of me, if youre intrested.

I think the red Fakel suit is used by prison guards, thats why its not present in any bigger conflicts or so.

Hum interesting, i thought the red fakel was "minister of interior" units, but they probably could be prison guards, question is why would they need such a "tough" uniform, and also a winter version...

here's a pic of my set

As for other war pics, please feel free to post we always like seeing different uniforms and photos.
