Australian Parachute Smock
Are Australian paratroopers equipped with a dedicated camouflage jump smock? I've heard about one, but can't find any reference.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Australian Parachute Smock
Yes a DPCU parasmock exists. 3 RAR (not airborne anymore), 1 and 2 CDO, SASR, other para units.

Thanks for the speedy answer. Are these things relatively common?

Not rare, but not common.
There are also many commercial DPCU parasmocks - Platatac, Kitbag etc. Mostly ripstop.

Re: Australian Parachute Smock
Also know of two other versions: one made of heavy cotton DPCU oilskin - drizabone material (seen on a digger at AASAM some years ago), and another made from DPDU material (seen on EBay Au).

You mean the Platatac ones or did you see an ADA or CTE one?

The DPDU one I believe it was an issue item ... I'm pretty sure I saved the pics somewhere. There is also an aircrewman cold weather jacket which I've seen in both DPCU and DPDU. Seems to be exclusive to RAAvn as the RAAFies have never come across them ...

Re: Australian Parachute Smock
Yeah didn't notice that - maybe that was the manufacturers tag. 08 is the latest date I've seen. I don't think they make them anymore? Anyone know?
I'll dig the one I have out this weekend and post some pics, can't remember the date.

I know mine had green ADA tags - washed out now.
They've either stopped production to run down existing stock or making them in smaller runs I guess. It's only 3 RAR that have stopped jumping ... there's still all the SF units. Remember the OD green Denisons that were made in the '60s? There were even less para qualed units back then ...
On the other hand ... if RSM-A refers to a new combat jacket as a 'para smock', that might mean a universal combat jacket that will be issued both para and non-para units. Time will tell ....

Re: Australian Parachute Smock
I have acquired an apparently commercial version of this cool smock. No NSN #s is a dead give away, as is the size tag.
Very well made, it mimics the real deal in quality, and features.
Would love some input on this...
Sorry for the crappy ( indoor ) photos...

Re: Australian Parachute Smock
This is still an issue item, I have one that belonged to the last RSM of PTS which is the same model with that black zip.
Never seen a para smock worn with an ANF like that, I am sceptical of that but the wearer might have got away with it.
