Australian Parachute Smock

I suspect most of the other recent DPCU para smocks were also manufactured by Combat Clothing, as the tags are similar to their other items.

It is interesting to note that none of the para smocks have the arrow symbol unlike nearly everything else that is issued.

Tags indicate this to be a commercial item, although Combat Clothing Australia have/had defence contracts they would be well marked as such eg. either broad arrow and/or NSN. I must admit it this is the first commercial para smock I've seen and couldn't fathom why it would be necessary until a SGT in my unit explained that he had to hand his smock back after leaving 3 RAR. He is still sourcing one in his size ...

Looks like I might have to retrieve my other smocks and have a gander at the tags ...

I don't think the Smock shown in this link is a para smock but a standard Pattern 68 smock

... except it has Australian tags - made for RAAF groundcrew.  See the article's comments for details.

Yep, that's what I allude to in the line above the link.

Pattern 68 but specifically for Australia and used by RAAF.

Im not disputing that its an RAAF smock Im just saying that its not a para smock

This seems to be an Auscam Para smock but it has some features usually only found on a Sniper smock such as padded shoulders and sleeves padded from the wrist to the shoulder on the underside. Can any of you Aussie experts tell me if these features are found on all Para smocks?

It is indeed a Para Smock. They all have the pockets for the foam pads although the foam pads are rarely seen. I have never seen them worn by anyone.

Has anyone seen a replacement for these in AMCU? (not the standard smock type jacket being issued to everyone)
Or are the para qual'd guys still being issued these in DPCU?

Para is all but phased out bar SOCOMD. So i doubt there will ever be one.
