Paratrooper Winter? Jacket and Liner.

IIRC the removable liner (I have a set) are MdI issue, not something specific to paras.

MdI = Ministerium des Innern (Ministry of the Interior). Like other Communist states, the MdI was responsible for keeping order and security domestically. IIRC they also controlled the Volkspolizei (police) as well. They were organized along military lines and were designed to be a check on both the military or other potential threats.

So any ideas if its a generic liner or meant to go with the jacket(both came together)?

I'm pretty sure that's a para liner.

I believe those para uniforms issued by DDR-MdI were from a special unit designated SEK (some sort of anti-terror unit that acted in the last years of the DDR)

But why oh why did Western countries never explore the way of the bullitproof visor on helmets like the former Soviet countries - it may be cumbersome and ineffective, but it looks so darn cool!

And why oh why are all Stricktarn uniforms so SHORT? If they are ever found above a size 52 they are always 52K as in SHORT?

Nice pics , in the last 2 they are all wearing Para vests as well, would be great to find one with POLICE on the back !!!

I've found and bought strichtarn FDA in 52ÜG and they have bigger on that shop. I already posted the link in other post but i will post it again here

It's interesting to note that West German special police forces, most famously GSG-9, have also worn para type helmets over the years.

As I now have an unissued set(if I can find it!!),this jacket and liner is now surplus to my collection so if anybody interested in it please get in touch or make me an offer.
