Darn, those ARVN windproofs are sweet.
Why are they badged to US personnel? Where they issued to American advisers that trained local paratroopers? What's the connection?

No doubt. Any literature that you could recommend that explores the involvement of these advisers?

Re: Some badged up Nam uniforms
Not Bloodcake.
That is an ebay term used by one seller.
Windproof ............Bullet proof ....Airborne ......Purples .are the only wartime used names .
If you go to the USMF uniform section there is a great thread pinned on advisors.its a real treat to both look at and read.
That is an ARVN ERDL shirt made in 69 to an LLDB advisor.

--No, Owen-- I know. I think I may have read all of the threads pertaining to that little gem. I also know that it drives you nuts. I was channeling Cartman for a minute.
I'll check out the USMF thread, tho'. Haven't read that one.

I get what you're saying Owen
Nice stuff as always. Hell, it would be worth the cost of flying to the the West Coast just to spend a day drinking a beer or two and looking at that collection of yours, let alone riding some of the great highways going north or south

Bloodcake
Hi all,
The so called Bloodcake uniforms are as incredibly beautiful, as they are rare.
thank you very much for posting and giving us a glimpse of these elusive jewels.
I have seen a site where reproductions of these incredibly scarce uniforms are sold.
Knowing my chances of ever acquiring one of the beautiful originals are probably nil,
I plan to purchase a repro. The seller has an original for sale. He claims the repros
are quality items. I plan to find out. Will post when I receive the uniform.
I own a Moore`s Militaria repro ERDL combat uniform. It is also well made, but when placed
next to the real thing, the difference is obvious. I still like it and wear it outdoors without
having to worry about ruining something original.
Thanks once more for the post. ripcord

Re: Some badged up Nam uniforms
--Owen, was it you that used the term "sausage skin" as another descriptor for those? I'm not trying to be smart-- just wondering. It is one of those images that never leaves your head once you read it...
