German military sizes

I'm kinda confused.

I've been looking at some German websites for flecktarn in "human" sizes, and have seen two different size scales.

I recently acquired a surplus flecktarn field shirt in Gr. 20 (size 20) from another member here. It fits like a US 45 or 46.

Perusing some German sites, I see the same surplus field shirt in Gr. 44 to Gr. 60 (size 44 to 60)


What gives?

Did they change how they sized things suddenly?


Does anyone have a good resource for German military sizes?

BW sizing, unless it's changed VERY recently, is abstract number system. The system I'm familiar with has sizes 0-15, no 20 or higher. Commercial stuff, however, might use a different system. Using the standard BW system a Size 7 = 48, Size 8 = 50, Size 9 = 52, etc.

I'm pretty sure there's a Wiki page on the sizing somewhere.
