    Hi all,

Has anyone seen this pattern before? I suspect this vest is commercial but I'm not 100% sure.

I don't think I've seen anything like it, no. There are a lot of vests made like this for fishermen, duck hunters, and other things like that. Which means it might be commercial.

    Hi Steve,

I agree with you but the pattern is not really simple as you see on a lot of commercial patterns. I hope someone here can ID this pattern for 100%.

I am constantly amazed by the complex commercial patterns out there that we never see. A friend of mine bought several batches of fabric that I've never seen any items made from. One is kinda like a shrunk down TAZ90 but in gray colors. I'm going to have some uniforms made from it.

Anyway, my point is there's a lot of really interesting camouflage patterns out there that have no relationship to militaries. It could also be that the cloth is from some military contract, but the vest itself is commercial. To me the design of the best is most likely commercial and the cloth is probably commercial.

Interesting!! Looks like Gilles' uniform is a match of the pattern, but not of the colors.

Danilo, funny you should post that uniform. It reminded me that 2 feet to the right of my desk is a UAE uniform in this pattern in standard French F1 style. At least I was told it was UAE when I purchased it a number of years ago.

The drawing of my set is identical than the vest, just the orientation of the pattern is different
For the colors, I think they are the same, maybe it the washing and the differnt material who give more pale colors on my set
About the jacket of Danilo, it is also referenced as Central Africa republic but I have never see this pattern wearing by anyone
It is the reason that I have not one because I don't want pay expensive for a commercial item!

I think if the vest were military that it would have more than 4 pockets to it. Looks very much like your typical US Duckhunter type cut vests to my , myopic eyes. Having said that, I REALLY like it ! Smile

Im not sure for Alex vest, but the story behind the "pakistani" and "central african" uniforms is the following. First i got my set from a very reliable source and i don't think is commercial. i did not pay for it it was a trade, so in case is commercial, no great loss.

But what i was told is, the uniform with the F1 cut is from "central africa" and the bdu style from pakistan.
It was issued to pakistani troops serving under the UN flag in central africa. Pakistan is the larges soldier provider to the UN and they are literally everywhere that UN has troops...
i think the story makes a lot of sense and i believe the set to be original, even thou no photographic evidence has surfaced...
