F1 Helmet+Daguet Cover,Named+Unit Marked 1990-Severely Squashed.

Cover has what looks like a name(cannot quite make it out),date 27/12/90,blood group at the rear and a red diamond-is this some from of unit marking I wonder?

No label present in the cover and the helmet itself is 1979 by GIA.

With the cover on everything looks A ok but without it the helmet is SERIOUSLY squashed,miss shaped which is a shame and was wondering is there any way of sorting this problem or best left as is?

For the sake of collecting, I would say best as-is. I doubt such an occasion would arise as you'd need to wear it (and any ballistic value it may have had is already compromised), and explaining to one's peers that the bugger was squashed by some unknown event is more entertaining then having to explain how you fixed it, even if you could. A botched job would be even worse (not to imply that you would-- but it is touchy, no?)

No idea,the dents I come to expect with French helmets but as for its shape,who knows???

Will leave this one without the car edging as looking through contemporary pics a lot didnt use it.

i like the cover though ,its definately seen some action ive just posted my latest f1 on the helmet thread i dont think ive ever seen this example without the dents ,mine looks to of been hit with a sharp object of some sort but ive never seen a dented m51 so i guess the thickness of the steel is an important factor they are quite flimsy ,nice find gulf

James,believe me there are dented M51s out there as well-look at my M51/56 tap helmet.

Possible reason for not seeing a lot of dented M51s is that there are so many unissued examples around.
