Cannot make out the details on the label and doubt the shoulder patch is original to the jacket.

All indicators point to it being French - tag appears to read: 'Fabrique en France - Warein - 19(?)89 -98 C(?)GM'

I thought it was France but not sure of which model/type.
Shame the label is faded as the jacket itself looks to have had little use.
Not sure if the 89 is the date as there appears to be too big a gap between the 89 and the numbers before it but could be wrong!!
Also,is the square velcro patch for a rank badge? If so,never seen one in that position.

This is a French air force jacket. this is the only arm of service which uses this type of jacket. The 98C is for a short person with a 38 Inch chest. The GM means "Grand Manche", i.e long sleeve so it should fit a short person with long arms.

Excellent, thanks for the excellent information regarding the jacket.
Good to see that like a lot of British and US size labels the French also bear no resemblance to the size quoted on the label--
Im 5 foot 10 with(I thought normal length arms) and a 38/40 chest. Chest wise would say size is correct, arm and general jacket length is spot on or if at a push the length of the jacket could be a bit on the long side.
