"Duck Hunter" Marine Camo Mask

I dug this out today after many years of storage. It was stuffed in the pocket of a Vietnam jungle jacket that I bought in Ohio back in 1986. Looks like it is made from the bug net from one of those Marine helmet covers that use to be all over ebay a while back. It is well used with holes and tears and the elastic strap for the eye cover is stretched out. Wish I still had the jacket but it went awol many years ago.

Any idea what this thing would would have been used for? Or has anybody seen anything like this?

Lol! reading my post now it looks a little stupid. I know what it was for...camoflaging the face. I meant for what situation would it be used.

Who really know's might of been used by Recon Teams or Snipers, then again uniformity during the Vietnam era was sorta depending who cared enough to enforce it. Back on Recon and SF teams, I'm sure they've requested weirder items and this could be one of them. xD

But vintage could be right, it could be for civilian hunting kit.

Couple of things , camo face paint and very hot humid country.
